Most great Whanganui stories start with a shared passion, and ours began on the cricket pitch.
In 2020, three mates with deep roots in Whanganui cricket – Adam, Pete, and Simon – sat down to discuss a collaboration that would eventually change the local skyline. Each brought a distinct profile to the table:
- Adam: Back from the UK with high-level project management expertise.
- Pete: A seasoned pro, running his own construction company.
- Simon: A strategic property investor with a sharp eye for local potential.
What started as a trial run on individual projects across the city proved one thing: the chemistry worked. The combination of technical precision, boots-on-the-ground grit, and investment savvy was a winning formula.
The Birth of Venture Build
By 2022, the momentum was undeniable. The trio officially joined forces to launch Venture Build, with all three stepping in as Directors.
We didn’t set out to be another “big box” franchise. From day one, our mission was to remain 100% Whanganui-owned and operated. We believe in local hands building local homes.

The Venture started with a modest crew of five. Today, we’ve evolved into a fast-moving team of 20 professionals, driven by the same energy that started it all.

SIMON AITKEN
DIRECTOR/ INFILL LEAD
Simon has been a property investor in Whanganui for 24 years. Over that time he has project managed 12 small subdivision projects within his own investment portfolio, including infill townhouses (both standalone, duplexes, and triplex builds) as well as moving and resetting houses between subdivisions. He sees the value in a quality build and project management team and the increased capacity & efficiencies that come with it.
ADAM TIPPER
DIRECTOR / CLIENT MANAGER
Adam has 5 years experience as a project manager in the UK, working with high end clients for a medium sized building company. He returned to NZ and has since gained another 5 years experience managing renovations, new builds and architectural builds around Whanganui.
PETER CZERWONKA
DIRECTOR/ BUILD MANAGER
Peter completed his apprenticeship in Wellington before moving back to Whanganui to work for a local builder for two years. He has spent the past 5 years independently building houses and architectural builds, and is a Licensed Building Practitioner.

It provides much greater protection than both the Building Act and Consumer Guarantees Act. While the vast majority of building projects will run smoothly, sometimes things do go wrong. The Guarantee provides protection when these issues arise. It may also be that your builder stops working as a builder during the 10-Years after completion. The Guarantee is there to protect your housing investment.
